Teach your child how to visualize math!
Does your child need help with visualizing math? I find that many students "plug and chug" or use memorization to do their math work. Math becomes a lot more meaningful when students can see how and why math can be seen or used in the real world.
Here is a link (also check out manifest.education for student activities) to some really cool computer simulations relating to everyday math to help students learn about rotation, temperature, length, number of objects, luminous intensity, time, etc. Activities that are hands-on (computer simulations, and using manipulatives) deepen understanding in math, and I use these types of strategies during tutoring to show students "what math looks like."
